Of Cooking & Smoke Detectors

Our little drop-in center has a little tool,
That every now and then loses its cool.

It can be quite annoying when cooking food,
Which obviously smells so very good.

You put the bread slice in and it cooks too long,
You hear the annoying creep with its beepy little song.

You have a little pot which out arises steam,
Which makes the smoke detector let out a beepy scream.

We are all busy doing things that keep us very still,
Until the smoke detector goes off--then it's a fire drill.

We have our morning planned, we have our things to do,
Until we are greeted by that creepy thing, for fire drills 1 and 2.

Get the idea I've had my fill,
That I've had enough of unscheduled fire drills.

We had 7 Professions of Faith & 1 Baptism/Profession of Faith combination on Sunday

We at Faith Reformed Church had a busy Sunday morning, and for a good reason. We are thankful that 7 young people could
make profession of their faith (5 girls & 2 boys). As well, we had a baptism/profession of faith of a young lady as well. Praise the Lord for His working in their hearts. The last young lady is getting married to one of the confessors. So, another wedding conducted by
our pastor is in the not so distant future. This will be the second marriage conducted by our pastor
.

Happy (Belated) Birthday Don & Dennis John!

Happy Birthday Don (61) & Dennis (32)! Both Don & Dennis' humor made my day in the past and are missed greatly. I have plenty pictures of Dennis to remember him by, but not too many of Don (just 2). I worked with Dennis in the past at the sports store and was a real good friend to him. Well, this post is a tribute to the Johns from the friends that they
have left behind in the Bulkley Valley (northern BC). They now have moved to a warmer part of BC (first to K, then to Vrnn--because they are building a house in Vrnn to live in).

Here is a picture of the birthday men . . .

Happy 140th Birthday Canada!

Happy 140th Birthday, Canada!

I've seen a lot of Canadian flags today. On houses, on cars, you name it, it's there. Are you happy to be a
Canadian, eh? I'm happy to be a
Canadian because we're free to serve God . . . as of yet. Praise God that we yet live in freedom, despite
the country's promotions of various sins. Now have a Happy
Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day!

Since Canada Day is tomorrow, I thought that I'd write this a day early as tomorrow is packed with activity already (church, and later on a graduation party for Corey--remember him from an earlier post?). We are invited for a dessert evening. I might take a few pictures there. We'll have to wait and see . . .

Happy 4th Birthday Isabelle!

To: Isabelle
From: Grandpa, Grandma & Uncle Steven

Today is the 28th of May,
It is your birthday today.

We knew it quite well,
That it's the birthday of Isabelle.

We knew that today you're 4,
For that we thank our mighty Lord.

But alas we live in a small town,
That is a long ways down.

I wrote this poem all by myself,
'Tis true, I wrote it without any help.

I did this for a smiling girl,
With lots and lots of lovely curls.

The picture attached is one of Isabelle,
She is smiling. Can you tell?

I did this on the day you're 4,
So that you could smile some more.

Don't have too much ice cream. Don't have too much cake,
Because too much of those will give you a bellyache!

Didn't wish on the phone, didn't send you a card,
But for this I worked very hard!

Well last but not least, I hope you're not glum,
Because I want to wish you the Lord's blessings and many more years to come.

Newest Church Family Member: Natalie Anne Folkerts

Our pastor James and his wife Esther have their first child. A girl which they named Natalie Anne. She came early this morning weighing a healthy 7 lbs. 7 ozs. Esther's mom came up to help Esther out with the baby. Tonight we saw the baby and here are some pictures:

Here's proof that we were there

Happy 8th Birthday Neil!

To: Neil
From: Grandpa, Grandma & Uncle Steven

Today is the 5th of May,
It is your birthday today.

We wish we could be there too,
To celebrate with you.

But alas we live in a small town,
That is a long ways down.

May you thank and praise your mighty God,
While on this earth you trod.

I did not want this to be late,
So I wrote this on the day you're 8.

I wrote this poem all by myself,
'Tis true, I wrote it without any help.

The picture attached is one of Neil,
It's a goofy one but--big deal!

Well last but not least, I hope you're not glum,
Because I want to wish you the Lord's blessings and many more years to come.

Spring is 4 days away! Hooray!

Well, today is St. Patrick's Day, but I'm not Irish. I have not been pinched for not wearing any green. But, whatever . . .

There is one thing that I'm happy about. That is, spring being 4 days away. Thank God for all His goodness to us! Great is His faithfulness! I'm referring to #408 in the 1959 or 1976 edition of the Psalter Hymnal.

Well, that about does it for this post. I'll keep you informed on the wildlife around here (if there is any). Until next time, so long for now . . .
